Chennai, June 21 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Government today gave its approval for establishing a burns wing with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of Rs 40.17 lakh in the Sivakasi Government hospital to benefit people working in fireworks and safety match units in Virudhunagar District. A government order was issued for also setting up intensive care unit and post-operative ward in the hospital at a cost of Rs 20 lakh, an official release said tonight. Besides, three additional doctors and as many nurses and six para-medical staff posts had been sanctioned for the burns wing at an annul expenditure of Rs 52.77 lakh, it said adding people of the district can get modern treatment for burn injuries at the hospital. Every year, several persons are killed and scores injured in fire mishaps in the fireworks units in and around Sivakasi, the national hub of fireworks industry.
