Villagers of Mathiyasennai near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district refused to let a headmaster of a government school who was earlier suspended on charges of alleged sexual harassment of students take charge on Friday.

Dhanasekharan (52) was headmaster of Satya Nagar government school in Thiruthangal near Sivakasi when he was accused of sexually abusing girls in his school. He was suspended from duty after the issue was taken to the notice of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) by its local representative, Henry Tiphagne. A police complaint was also filed with the then superintendent of police of Virudhunagar. However, the suspension was recently revoked and Dhanasekharan obtained a transfer to the Panchayat Union Middle School in Mathiyasennai.
