Three passengers killed as bus overturns

      Three passengers, including a four-year-old girl, were killed and 23 others sustained injuries when a private bus overturned on the Tiruchi – Madurai National Highway at Viralimalai in Pudukottai district late on Saturday night.

      The Chennai-bound omnibus from Sivakasi was proceeding on the bypass road at Viralimalai when the driver apparently lost control and the speeding vehicle hit an electric post and then dashed against a compound wall of a private company before overturning.

    The deceased were identified as Ravichandran (38); his daughter Apoorva (4) and Poovizhi (22), his sister-in-law, – all from Thiruthangal. The injured were admitted to hospitals in Tiruchi, police sources said. The Viralimalai Police have registered a case.
